Artists

Erin Case, David Hockney, Raoul Hausmann and Hannah Höch are the four main artists linked with photomontages and each have their own unique way of making them.

Erin Case makes more of traditional photomontages in which there’s two images overlapping, an example of her work is a portrait cut out and then a urban background inside.

Hannah Höch has more of a complex and random way of making one, she uses many parts of different images and puts them all in one and mainly uses facial features and expression. She was also one of the originators of photomontages.

David Hockney has a theme of ‘Cubism’ in his works. He mainly uses two images and creates a theme of complexity by having cut outs of images in a cube shape. He is also considered one of the most influential British artist of the 20th century

Dada was an art movement formed during the First World War in Zurich in negative reaction to the horrors and folly of the war. The art, poetry and performance produced by dada artists is often satirical (Poking fun at someone).Raoul Hausmann is heavily associated with this and his photomontages strictly link in with the World War I and have a old historic theme.
